Best beaches of Alicante, Spain

Alicante, Spain sits smack dab in the middle of the 200 kms of The “Costa Blanca” coastline in the Valencia region of south eastern Spain. To say the beaches are no less than stunning is an understatement. When I visited here last fall, I felt at home with the areas constant sunshine, great restaurants, and a modern meets old world seaside community. Here’s a list of the best beaches for leisure, fun and day trip’n in and around Alicante.

Playa Postiguet

Alicante’s main town beach, next to the famous Explanada.
Clean, long, white sands and lots of facilities. Very crowded in peak season.

Playa la Albufereta

Small beach next to Marina. Sheltered so good in windy weather.

Cabo de las Huertas

Small rocky coves and outlets, crystal clear waters. Nudist. Barbecues permitted.

Playa de San Juan

Alicante’s longest beach. 7km of golden sands, lots of facilities, water sports, beach bars etc.

Playa Carrer La Mar

Long beach set alongside Campello’s lively promenade.

Playa Almadrava

Small sandy and pebbly beach, hidden away from the crowds. No on-beach services.

Playa Urbanova

Beach set next to urbanization of the same name. Grey sands, calm waters, very crowded in Summer.

Arenales del Sol

One of Alicante’s wildest most unspoilt beaches. Dunes and some vegetation. Quiet.

Cala de la Palmera

Small rocky beach, crystal clear waters, great for snorkeling. Nudist.

Playa de Cala Cantalars

Small rocky beach, very peaceful, nudist.

Playa Agua Amarga

Very narrow long beach, popular with people who enjoy fishing. No services.
