BANGKOK TO INTRODUCE FREE BICYCLE RENTAL FOR TOURISTS

ThaiFollowing in the footsteps of other forward-thinking cities around the world, including Paris, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has announced plans to introduce a free bicycle rental program for visitors to Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Island.  The eco-friendly project, aimed at visitors who enjoy cycling to historical sites and cultural venues, will be offered to tourists free of charge.  The bikes will be available from 10am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm on weekends at bike service locations at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, City Hall, Santi Chaiprakan and Saranrom parks.  The city also has plans to expand the bicycle service to cover the Thon Buri side of Bangkok later this year.
