Travel Snack inspired by love
There are two reasons to start a business. One is to solve a problem that isn’t being addressed in the world, and the other is to fulfill a passion and see it come to fruition. Enter Sarah Kay Hoffman, CEO of A Loving Spoon nut butters. Hoffman’s story began back in 2009 when she was on the Gut and Psychology Syndrome diet for stomach issues she was dealing with.
Searching for high-protein and organic options to nosh on, she began purchasing raw coconut butter, walnut butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, pecan butter and almond butter, as a way to satiate her cravings for sugar, snacks and desserts. It wasn’t long before Sarah began to heal, and noticed her craving for the traditional form of snacks, dessert and processed, chemical-filled foods had disappeared. Hoffman became passionate about nut based butters.
It wasn’t until she was given a food processor as a gift that she began experimenting with her various ingredients, such as raw tree nuts, seasonings and other organic products in hopes of creating her nut butters. Several attempts and taste tests later, she perfected her recipes. Her new love for dessert and flavor without the guilt could now be passed on to those she loved. Producing a product in 4 oz. jars was an important step for the company. As it turns out, it’s the perfect traveling and on-the-go companion. Hoffman also decided on spoons over knives to further enhance what was already perfectly acceptable and divine: eating nut butter straight out of the jar, on a spoon or with the index finger!
